Notes on Historic Middleton

Preface

The "notes" below are mainly a number of documents relating to Middleton and Middleton families, linked where necessary by brief explanatory notes. The documents have all been obtained locally from a variety of sources: books, Leeds Reference Library, Yorkshire Archaelogical Society, West Yorkshire Archives, etc. Thanks to all the staff who provided assistance.

The author is sure that there must be more information "out there" and hopes the reading which follows will encourage others to embark on their own journey of investigation.

There may be errors or omissions, for which we take responsibility. Hopefully you, the reader, will take the time to let us know, so that we can correct things and improve the account of our town's history.

John Newbould
